Stitching projects with straight lines are my favorites, so I make a lot of simple totes. My friend Janet asked for a basic overview on how I make them, so I created this short 5-minute video for her (and anyone else interested in making simple totes). This is my first DIY video, so I hope it's clear and informative.
As a writer who loves to stitch, especially projects with straight lines, I also love cool notebooks. And so, I love making cool notebook covers, which I call Journal Jackets. My friends Helen and Janet asked me how to make them, so I put together this DIY video for them and anyone else interested in making them.
These are such fun to make and a great way to use those lovely scraps of fabric I just couldn't bring myself to throw away. The beds and bedding all pack up neatly into the box. I purchase the decorative photo boxes from local sewing and craft stores. The boxes are slightly smaller than a shoe box. For details on how to make them, check out my post DIY Transform a Photo Box Into a Bedroom for Dolls.

Highlights from my hat sewing phase a few years ago. Making hats had a profound significance for me. Barely a few years ago, while watching the TV series Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, set in 1920s Australia, I was so captivated by all the fabulous hats worn by the title character that I simply had to give it a try, making hats, that is. I was hooked after the first one, despite all the pleating, whew. Several hats later and the premise for my first draft novel was born: Hat Tricks In Hangar Six. I used the hat I was making at the time for the working cover image of the draft novel, which I wrote during Nanowrimo 2021. Love making hats but they are quite time and focus intensive for me, so I don't make them as often as I want to!
